The Young Real Estate Professionals extremely excited to have Mr. Lou Conforti, Global Head of Real Estate UBS O'Connor (NYSE: UBS) to speak at our next speaker luncheon on Wednesday, May 11, 2011.
UBS' Global Real Estate invests in properties in Continental Europe, Japan, UK and US and in publicly traded real estate securities worldwide. It actively manages investments in property including office, industrial, retail, multi-family residential, hotel and farmland real estate. Capabilities include core and value-added private strategies on a global, country and regional basis. These are offered through: private commingled funds, individually managed accounts and public listed investment funds.
Mr Conforti is the Head of the Global Property Group of UBS O’Connor and a Partner and Senior Portfolio Manager of OCPS, a joint venture between Colony Capital, one of the world’s largest real estate private equity and investment management firms and O'Connor, a global leader in alternative investment management.
Most recently, Louis was Managing Director and Head of Global Real Estate for Stark Investments where he oversaw a $1.0 billion portfolio of listed property securities. His previous firm, The Greenwood Group, LLC, was merged into Stark Investments in 2005 and was one of the earliest real estate hedge funds combining fundamental and macroeconomic analyses. Mr. Conforti also served as Co-President and Chief Financial Officer of Prime Group Realty Trust during which time he was instrumental in the corporate restructuring and subsequent privatization of the company. Previous positions include Executive Director of CIBC World Markets and Vice President of Alex. Brown & Sons, where he focused on real estate investment banking and capital markets.
Mr. Conforti serves on the Board of Directors of the Simon Foundation based in Indianapolis, IN. Louis graduated from Lake Forest College and attended the Graduate Schools of Business and Sociology at the University of Chicago.
